Volunteer falls through glass at Fenty headquarters

WASHINGTON | A volunteer has fallen and crashed through a plate-glass window at Mayor Adrian Fenty’s headquarters, where hundreds of people gathered to await election results.

It happened shortly before midnight Tuesday. Paramedics were tending to a young man who was bleeding badly from the head. The man was conscious and talking and walked to the ambulance under his own power.

A reporter at the scene was surrounded by shards of plate glass; his laptop computer had glass all over it. The window the volunteer fell through was about 9 feet by 9 feet.

A small ruckus ensued when Fenty supporters tried to block TV cameras from filming the aftermath of the accident.
