NEW YORK (AP) - The president of Colombia might be in New York for the U.N. General Assembly, but he also found time to attend a concert by Shakira.
President Juan Manuel Santos, along with the former president of Chile, Michelle Bachelet (bah-cheh-LET’), Queen Rania of Jordan and actor Jim Carrey all came out Tuesday night to watch the hip-swiveling Shakira perform before an energetic crowd at Madison Square Garden.
Shakira said having Santos and the others at her concert was an honor.
The Colombian singer performed for nearly two hours. She sang some of her best-known hits, including “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Whenever Wherever” and “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”
