BEIJING (AP) - U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters will miss next month’s China Open because of an infection on her right foot.
The three-time major title winner tweeted Tuesday that she “had a mole removed under my right foot and the wound got infected” and her Web site says “Kim has to cancel for Beijing.”
The WTA Tour confirmed that Clijsters has withdrawn from the hard-court tournament, which runs Oct. 2-10.
Clijsters, No. 5 in this week’s WTA rankings, also posted on Twitter a link to a photo showing a red blotch on the bottom of her foot.
