SOUTH BEND, IND. (AP) - Skylar Diggins couldn’t have planned it better.

The Notre Dame sophomore will lead her hometown team into the national semifinals in her home state against No. 1 Connecticut on Sunday at Conseco Fieldhouse. She says it will be special to return to the building where she played for three Indiana state championships.

The third-team All-American has played point guard for the Fighting Irish after being a primary scorer at Washington High School in South Bend. She was a shooting guard as a college freshman. Her teammates say her adjustment is a key reason the Irish are in the Final Four.

Her stepfather Maurice Scott is especially proud of Diggins. He also was her high school coach, and says watching Notre Dame’s run to the Final Four has been “surreal.”
