A man found fatally shot in the District Sunday was a ward of the city's Youth Rehabilitation Services, The Washington Times has learned.
Sources within the agency confirmed that Kevin Andre Washington, 20, was in the custody of the city when he was found dead. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
Officers responded at about 12:21 a.m. to the 100 block of Irving Street Northwest for the report of a pedestrian struck. When they arrived, they found Washington suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His killing was the sixth in the District since Wednesday.
