Ex-Fla. gov, Talking Heads singer end song lawsuit

TAMPA, FLA. (AP) - Talking Heads singer David Byrne and former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist are no longer headed to court over a song.

Byrne and Crist have settled a $1 million lawsuit the singer filed over Crist’s unauthorized use of “Road to Nowhere” in a YouTube ad during his U.S. Senate campaign last year.

The settlement was announced Monday. Its terms were confidential. Crist also filmed a video apology that will be posted to YouTube.

Byrne sued after Crist’s campaign posted a January 2010 video that attacked Marco Rubio and featured the 1985 song.

Crist told The Associated Press he was very pleased with the settlement. Byrne’s lawyers say they are preparing a statement.
