ORLANDO, FLA. (AP) - Magic coach Stan Van Gundy says guard J.J. Redick will play in Game 1 of Orlando’s first-round playoff opener against Atlanta.
Redick wasn’t limited in the team’s morning walkthrough Saturday and Van Gundy says he plans to use him in the rotation against the Hawks. He says he hasn’t decided how many minutes Redick will play.
Redick missed Orlando’s final 17 regular-season games with a lower abdominal strain and hasn’t played since early March. He stayed after Saturday’s shoot around to do some extra shooting in with Magic assistants.
The Magic’s bench rotation has been irregular for several weeks and Van Gundy says Redick’s return should help to stabilize it.
Redick is averaging a career-best 10.1 points in his fifth NBA season.
