Ohio State president to meet with ‘Little Sisters’

OREGON, OHIO (AP) - Ohio State University’s president is trying to atone for a wisecrack he made last year with a visit to the nuns of the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Gordon Gee (GEE‘) caused a stir last November while talking about football and who should get a chance to play for the college title.

In an interview with The Associated Press, he mocked other universities outside the power conferences by saying the Buckeyes didn’t play “the Little Sisters of the Poor.”

It turns out Gee didn’t know the religious order really existed, so he’s planned a visit Wednesday to a center where they care for the elderly just outside Toledo.

He’s also apologized for making the nuns a punch line and says he’s learned a lot about their work.
