Prince Harry to train at US military bases

EL CENTRO, CALIF. (AP) - Prince Harry _ a British Army captain _ will train at two U.S. military bases in California and Arizona as part of an Apache attack helicopter course conducted by his country’s Defense Ministry.

Base spokeswoman Michelle Dee said Monday that the prince will arrive in early October at the Naval Air Facility in El Centro, Calif., near the U.S.-Mexico border.

She says the same course will also take him to the Air Force Auxiliary Air Field in Gila Bend, Ariz.

The training in the United States consists of environmental training, live firing and tactical exercises.

The British Defense Ministry says the prince will join an Apache squadron. The Defense Ministry would not comment on his deployment plans, citing its policy.
