In 2008, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama had this to say: “The way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up the national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents - No. 43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back - $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.”

Oh, the irony. What President Obama and Congress have done with regard to the national debt is nothing short of criminal. It is akin to me taking a company credit card and buying whatever I wanted - an action that would not only break company rules and state laws, but would also mean running up a debt that I would be disinclined to pay.

The power must be returned to the states and the people, who granted the federal government its very limited power to begin with.
