Tigers will try to ease Franklin into flow

- Associated Press - Tuesday, August 30, 2011

COLUMBIA, MO. (AP) - Missouri's offensive coordinator says the playbook might be scaled back for new quarterback James Franklin in the opener.

But that's no knock.

Dave Yost said that was also the case with the three quarterbacks who preceded Franklin, all of whom are now in the NFL. And it didn't stop Blaine Gabbert, Chase Daniel and Brad Smith from making a big splash in their debuts.

The 21st-ranked Tigers will do their best to ease Franklin into the flow on Saturday against Miami of Ohio. The sophomore will be making his first collegiate start.
