PORTLAND, ORE. (AP) - The rock band Portugal. The Man lost all of its equipment after its touring van and trailer were stolen from a Chicago parking lot this week, a publicist confirmed Tuesday.
The Oregonian reported (http://bit.ly/r2FmTZ) that the band lost dozens of items including vintage guitars and amps, keyboards, effects pedals, drums and microphones. The band’s Ford van and black trailer were taken Monday from an attended parking lot near Chicago’s Grant Park.
The band performed the night before at the Lollapalooza music festival.
The band last month released its sixth album and first for Atlantic, “In the Mountain in the Cloud.”
“We need to find this stuff,” Gourley said, “because it’s who we are and what we do at this point. It’s the last three records, using those guitars and amps.”
In an effort to raise awareness, the band took to Twitter and asked people take a list of stolen items to local pawn and music shops.
Publicist Ashley White confirmed the theft in an e-mail to The Associated Press.
Portugal. The Man hails originally from Wasilla, Alaska, and its members now live in Portland, Ore.
