Timberwolves shut down PG Flynn for a week

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Timberwolves are shutting down point guard Jonny Flynn for the next week, hoping it will help his recovery from major hip surgery.

Flynn was inactive against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night. He also will likely miss back-to-back games coming out of the All-Star break on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Flynn had hip surgery last summer and missed all of training camp and the first two months of the season. He has struggled to work his way back into the lineup since his return in December.

He is averaging 5.8 points and 3.3 assists. Flynn says the recovery process has been frustrating and he is hoping this rest will help speed up the process.

Luke Ridnour got the start at point guard.
