GREEN BAY, WIS. (AP) - Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy says linebacker Desmond Bishop has earned a contract extension.

Bishop signed a four-year extension with the Packers this week, a reward for his standout play as a starter in the wake of a season-ending wrist injury to Nick Barnett. The team did not disclose terms, but ESPN reported that the deal was worth $19 million.

McCarthy says Bishop has “earned this” and the coach is proud of the way Bishop has played.

The Packers got more good news Wednesday when defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins returned to practice. Jenkins has missed four straight games because of a calf injury.
