A male was shot and wounded Tuesday evening near the Columbia Heights Metro Station, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
Officers responded to a call for shots fired in the 1400 block of Columbia Road in Northwest just after 7 p.m. They found a male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was breathing and conscious when transported to a local hospital, a police spokesman said.
Police Tuesday night had not said whether the victim was an adult or a juvenile.
