On Tuesday, a military official who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak to the media, confirmed that Gen. Thiam was arrested alongside De Gaulle, the former bodyguard to both Capt. Camara and the general who succeeded him.
“Military violence is something that deeply frightens us,” said Sidya Toure, who came in third in last year’s election.
“We lived through this in ‘08, and again in ‘09. What it shows is that apparently there is a problem. There are things that remain unfinished.”
