DETROIT (AP) - Carlos Guillen hit a two-run triple in Detroit’s four-run sixth inning and the Tigers beat the Los Angeles Angels 12-2 on Friday night.
Guillen and Victor Martinez had four RBIs apiece, while Ramon Santiago added three hits for Detroit. Rick Porcello (11-6) allowed two runs and five hits in eight innings, striking out six.
Tyler Chatwood (6-7) gave up six runs and eight hits in 5 1-3 innings for the Angels, who had won three straight and five of seven.
Martinez hit a one-out RBI single to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead in the sixth, and Guillen followed with his first triple since July 9, 2010.
Blue Jays 3, Rangers 2
TORONTO (AP) _ J.P. Arencibia hit a three-run homer for Toronto, and Brett Cecil beat All-Star Alexi Ogando for the second straight start.
Nelson Cruz and Mike Napoli homered for the Rangers, who lost for the third time in four games. But Cruz left in the fifth inning with tightness in his left quadriceps muscle.
Cecil (4-4) pitched a four-hitter in Toronto’s 3-0 victory at Arlington last Sunday and was sharp again in this one. The left-hander allowed one run and seven hits in seven innings to win consecutive starts for the first time this season.
Frank Francisco worked the eighth and Jon Rauch pitched around Napoli’s homer to close it out for his ninth save.
Ogando (10-5) allowed three runs and four hits in 5 2-3 innings.
Royals 12, Indians 0
CLEVELAND (AP) _ Jeff Francis pitched eight sharp innings and Melky Cabrera hit a grand slam.
Billy Butler went deep twice and Alex Gordon also connected for Kansas City, which has won seven of 10. Butler hit a two-run shot in the first and a solo drive in the eighth, giving him five long balls in a four-game homer streak.
Butler came to the plate right after Cabrera’s grand slam in the fourth, and Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco promptly threw the first pitch at his head. Players from both dugouts and bullpens came on the field, and Carrasco was ejected.
Francis (4-11) won for the first time since June 10. He allowed four hits, struck out six and walked one.
