CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (AP) - As the top seed in the NCAA baseball tournament, Virginia is facing the most pressure to get to the College World Series _ and win.

Coach Brian O’Connor says the pressure is something his team should embrace.

The Cavaliers (52-9) open super regional play on Saturday against UC Irvine (42-16) at soldout Davenport Field, where a packed house watched Virginia sweep through the regional round last weekend.

The Cavaliers, who won three games by 29-3, are playing their best baseball of the season.

The pitching has been dominant and Virginia has been getting timely hits.

All three starters went at least seven innings during regional play and 42 of 81 outs were recorded by strikeout. On offense, 24 of the 29 runs were scored after two were out.
