NEW YORK (AP) - The show will go one after the City University of New York voted to withhold an honorary degree from playwright Tony Kushner and then reversed itself.

Kushner will receive the degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice at commencement ceremonies on Friday.

The university trustees were widely criticized when they voted May 2 not to grant the degree to Kushner, who won a Pulitzer Prize for “Angels in America.”

The move came after trustee Jeffrey Wiesenfeld said Kushner was anti-Israel.

Kushner says Wiesenfeld misrepresented his views.

An executive committee meeting of the trustees later overturned the decision.

John Jay is one of 23 schools that make up the City University of New York system.
