Royals prospect Lamb to have surgery

KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) - Left-hander John Lamb, one of the Kansas City Royals‘ top prospects, will undergo Tommy John surgery on his left elbow.

The team announced that Lamb will have the ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery on Friday. It will be performed in Los Angeles by Dr. Lewis Yocum.

The 20-year-old Lamb was the 2010 Paul Splittorff Award winner as the top pitcher in the Royals‘ organization. He was taken in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. He made eight starts this year at Double-A Northwest Arkansas and was 1-2 with a 3.09 ERA.
