Government-run medical care is not a solution - it's Obamacare. Passing the buck to the states is not a solution either - that's Romneycare. If I don't like what I'm getting in the state I live in under Romneycare, I will have to move to another state. If don't like what I'm getting from Obamacare, I will have to move to another country or another planet.
Both options are inconvenient, to say the least. The establishment of a nationwide marketplace for both medical insurance and medical care will allow me to find insurance and care that fits my specific needs at prices I can afford. Some states have more mandates than others. As a result, insurance will be less expensive in some states. I should be able to buy the less expensive insurance, as well as specialized care if I need it, at prices that fit my budget.
Competition will encourage states to reduce their number of mandates. Free competition is the best guarantee for continuing quality and innovation as well as for lowering prices for medical care. We need an open-minded president and Congress in order to bring this about.
