SAN DIEGO (AP) - Padres catcher Nick Hundley has had his right elbow drained and received a cortisone shot.
Hundley says doctors feel it would be safe for him to return Friday, but he hopes to be back by Wednesday.
An MRI on Monday afternoon showed no structural damage. He says the swollen elbow came out of nowhere during Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. It was so sore that he had to brush his teeth left-handed.
Kyle Phillips started at catcher on Sunday for the Padres and Rob Johnson was in the starting lineup for Monday night’s game against Kansas City.
