A 25-year-old Landover  has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a football coach at McKinley Technology High School, the Metropolitan Police Department said Monday.

Oma Crawford has been charged with first-degree murder while armed in connection to the shooting Friday night of Ralph Thomas, 36, of Temple Hills, police said.

Thomas was shot at about 8:35 p.m. on the campus of McKinley, in the 100 block of T Street Northeast. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The football team using the field that night was not associated with the high school, said MPD spokesman Officer Anthony Clay.

Media outlets have reported that Thomas was a general manager for the D.C. Falcons, a semi-pro football team that requires player to complete 100 community service hours to play.
