LETTER TO THE EDITOR: King hearings crucial for attack prevention

Investigating how radical Islam is operating here in the United States is plain common sense (“The Muslim wall of resistance,” Comment & Analysis, Monday). I commend the committee of Peter T. King, New York Republican, for not backing down in the face of complaints from the left.

A little information for Sheila Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat: America has been in a real, live war with Islamic extremists since Sept. 11, 2001, when terrorists drove hijacked jetliners full of innocent people into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania farm field.

American soldiers are killed and maimed regularly in the war with these terrorists - although you might not know it from watching mainstream TV news. It seems to me the enemy is already emboldened and it has been since Sept. 11.

The comments of Al Green, Texas Democrat, about investigating the Ku Klux Klan shows just how out of touch with reality the left and most Democrats are. They seem to believe we should not hold Islam accountable for any of the atrocities terrorists commit in its name.

As politically incorrect as it may be, the enemies we fight are Muslim, and learning how religion motivates these terrorists will help prevent future attacks in the United States.
