MCLEAN, VA. (AP) - Gannett, which publishes USA Today and other newspapers, says it has named David A. Payne as chief digital officer, replacing Christopher Saridakis, who left last spring.
Payne comes from video ad technology start-up ShortTail Media Inc., which he co-founded in 2008 and where he served as president and CEO. Before that he was senior vice president and general manager of CNN.com. He will oversee Gannett’s online offerings, which include newspaper and TV websites as well as retail site ShopLocal and PointRoll, its Internet advertising company.
Gannett Co. announced Saridakis’s departure last April. He had been with the company since 2008.
Shares of Gannett slid 9 cents to $15.03 in midday trading Wednesday.
