The Metropolitan Police Department says a 15-year-old is being held in connection with the killing of an 18-year-old man in Southeast on Sunday.

Police say officers were called to the 2600 block of Stanton Road in Southeast at about 2 p.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting. They found Gary Gordon, who lived at the address, inside suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

He was transported to a local hospital where he died.

NBC Washington reported that investigators found Mr. Gordon’s body in front of a window and that a bullet hole was in the window. The TV station said that investigators initially though the victim had been shot through the window while looking outside but now think the scene may have been staged. They said Mr. Gordon and the 15-year-old, a girl, may have been handling the weapon inside the apartment when it discharged.
