Bertuzzi leaves for Detroit with upper-body injury

SAN JOSE, CALIF. (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings lost a pair of forwards to injuries in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinal series against San Jose.

Todd Bertuzzi left in the first period Thursday night with an undisclosed upper body injury. Danny Cleary was knocked out in the second period when his head appeared to hit the ice hard after a collision with teammate Jiri Hudler. The team says he has an upper body injury and won’t return.

Detroit was already without one of its top forwards as Johan Franzen was scratched for the second straight game with an ankle injury.

The Red Wings trailed 2-1 after two periods. They are trying to become the fourth NHL team to win a playoff series after falling behind 3-0 in the series.
