Stroman wins Astaire Award for ‘Scottsboro Boys’

NEW YORK (AP) - Susan Stroman has taken home the Astaire Award for best Broadway choreography for her work on "The Scottsboro Boys."

It was Stroman's fifth Fred & Adele Astaire Award, which recognize excellence in dance on Broadway and in film. She beat out eight other choreographers Sunday for the prize.

Sutton Foster of "Anything Goes," won her second Astaire Award for best female dancer on Broadway. "Catch Me if You Can" star Norbert Leo Butz took home the prize for best male dancer.

Graeme Murphy and Janet Vernon won the Astaire for Excellence in Choreography in Film Award for their breathtaking dances in "Mao's Last Dancer."
