ANALYSIS/OPINION:

It is gratifying to note the entry of former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty into the Republican presidential primary. Mr. Pawlenty is a dignified, distinguished, intelligent, respected and articulate conservative. The question is whether someone like him - a man with less of flash, sizzle and charisma than others - will be able to generate enough excitement and support to win the nomination and go on to do battle in the general election.

I hope for the sake of the party, the GOP nominates a person of substance and stature to represent it on next year’s presidential ballot. Mr. Pawlenty is one of the few individuals mentioned thus far who would do the party and the nation proud.
