Green confirms plan to transfer from Nebraska

LINCOLN, NEB. (AP) - Nebraska backup quarterback Cody Green has confirmed that he will transfer.

Green said in a statement Tuesday that making the decision to leave was “by far one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.”

Green backed up Zac Lee in 2009 and Taylor Martinez in 2010. Martinez returns this season as a sophomore, and Green was outplayed by redshirt freshman Brion Carnes in the spring game.

Green said coach Bo Pelini has offered to help him find another school. He said he enjoyed his time at Nebraska and is grateful to his teammates, coaches and fans.
