LETTER TO THE EDITOR: ‘Stimulus’ exacerbates recession

In his op-ed “Putting freedom back to work” (Tuesday), Rep. Tom McClintock, California Republican, made the point that government spending cannot create jobs.

Not only did the “stimulus” fail, it had to do so. This point needs to be made repeatedly until the public understands. It has been frustrating that this has not been made clear for the past three years. The New Deal merely prolonged the Great Depression, as the “stimulus” is prolonging this recession.
