TSA to expand test for faster airport security

- Associated Press - Wednesday, November 2, 2011

WASHINGTON (AP) — Transportation Security Administrator John Pistole said Wednesday that a small test program that pre-screens some travelers who volunteer extra information about themselves in exchange for swifter trips through airport security has been successful so far.

Mr. Pistole said his agency plans to expand the program to another round of airports and airlines for further testing.

Mr. Pistole spoke to lawmakers on Capitol Hill just weeks before the busy Thanksgiving travel season.

The TSA began testing its pre-check program in October with a small number of travelers at airports in Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit and Miami.

Mr. Pistole said the agency currently is deciding which airports will be included in the next round of testing.
