AP Source: Jags being sold to Illinois businessman

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (AP) - A person familiar with the decision says Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver is selling the team to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan.

The person told The Associated Press that Khan, who was born in Pakistan in 1950 and moved to the United States when he was 16, and Weaver’s deal is not expected to move the team.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because no public announcement has been made regarding the sale of the team.

The Jaguars have scheduled a noon press conference during which they are expected to discuss all the leadership changes, which includes signing general manager Gene Smith to a new three-year deal and Monday’s firing of head coach Jack Del Rio.
