ORLANDO, FLA. (AP) - An attorney hired by the man deemed the focus of law enforcement’s investigation into the disappearance of a Florida mother who vanished shortly after appearing on “The People’s Court” says his client is not guilty of any crime.
Mark NeJame said at a news conference Tuesday that Dale Smith is asking for Texas Equusearch to search for missing 33-year-old Michelle Parker, provided Orlando authorities approve.
NeJame also says Smith is declining to take a lie detector test because it’s unreliable and not because he is hiding anything.
The 40-year-old Smith is an ex-fiance of Parker, with whom he has 3-year-old twins.
Parker was last seen Nov. 17, the day the previously-taped episode aired featuring her and Smith. They were on the show to resolve a dispute over a $5,000 engagement ring.
