NEW YORK (AP) - Take-Two is confirming that its RockStar North studio is deep in development of the next installment of the wildly popular “Grand Theft Auto” shooter series.
Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. said Thursday that “Grand Theft Auto V” will be set in the city of Los Santos. That means the game is back in its fictional Southern California setting. That’s where the blockbuster “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,” which launched in 2004, took place as well.
With the most recent game, 2008’s “Grand Theft Auto IV,” Rockstar took players to Liberty City, a fictional take on New York.
Take-Two says more than 114 million “GTA” games have been sold worldwide. The company has not set a launch date for the new title.
