Actor Corbin Bernsen sues Virginia company

NORFOLK, VA. (AP) - Actor Corbin Bernsen has filed a lawsuit against a Virginia Beach company seeking more than $660,000 for breach of contract.

Bernsen played Arnie Becker on “L.A. Law” and was hired by Innovative Legal Marketing, LLC to do promotional work for the company in 2009.

A lawsuit filed Friday in federal court in Norfolk says the company cancelled the $1 million contract in June because its campaign was only successful in New York. The contract was originally scheduled to last five years.

Bernsen attorney Douglas Baldridge also contends the company wrongfully used Bernsen’s image on its website after it terminated the contract and that it aired commercials featuring Bernsen as recently as September.

A message left with Innovative Legal Marketing Managing Director Brien Johnson on Monday was not immediately returned.
