Resale of the week: Sunny Chevy Chase Colonial

Situated between the vibrancy of the District and the bustle of downtown Bethesda is a charming brick Colonial in a parklike setting. The four-bedroom, three-bath home in the heart of Chevy Chase features a traditional floor plan with updated features and amenities, including a sunroom.

A lushly manicured front yard with short stone retaining walls helps welcome visitors to the front door. The stone-and-siding exterior, combined with black shutters and a stone archway that leads to the backyard, give the home a storybook appeal. A driveway leads to the attached one-car garage.

The home at 7313 Summit Ave., a quiet street in the Martin’s Additions community in Chevy Chase, is on the market for $895,000.

Guests enter the home through a cozy foyer with tile flooring and then move directly into a generously sized living room with hardwood floors. The sunny living room with its wood-burning fireplace is the perfect spot to entertain company.

The designer-style window coverings in the living room and throughout the home are rich accents and will convey to the new owner. Most of the rooms have been painted warm neutral and pastel colors, giving the home a cozy, relaxed feel.

Gleaming hardwood floors flow from the living room into the adjacent formal dining room. A wide arched entryway separates the rooms.

The dining room, with its two walls of windows and a door leading to the backyard patio, has an airy feel. It’s the ideal room for formal or casual gatherings of friends and family.

Not far away is the renovated galley-style kitchen, which makes good use of its space. The crisp contrast between the white cabinetry, gray granite counters and hardwood floors is appealing.

The kitchen also has a stainless steel refrigerator and extra-deep stainless sink with a window above it overlooking the sunroom. The owners added a desk to the bright kitchen.

One of the bonus features in this centrally located home is the two-tiered sunroom addition. This room is in the back of the home, surrounded by windows that overlook the yard. A short set of stairs divides the room into separate spaces, one of which is being used as a child’s playroom.

The sleeping quarters can be found on the second floor, where there are three well-appointed bedrooms, including a large master suite. The master bedroom has hardwood floors and several windows offering different views.

Black-and-white tile floors and walls highlight the master bath. This bathroom has a white vanity, built-in shelves and a stand-up shower with glass doors.

The second and third bedrooms have hardwood flooring and ceiling fans and share a hall bath.

If more sleeping space is needed for family members or overnight guests, there’s a fourth bedroom on the lower level. This carpeted bedroom is sunny and has a full-size window. The lower level also has a full bath.

Additionally, there’s an open recreation room for entertaining and unwinding on this level. Painted a warm shade of blue and with recessed lights throughout, the entire lower-level space is a great place to escape and unwind.
