Bengals lose QB Dalton with wrist injury

CLEVELAND (AP) - Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton has left his first NFL game with an injured right wrist.

Dalton was hit by Browns rookie defensive tackle Phil Taylor on Cincinnati’s final offensive play in the first half. He favored his arm as he came off the field and was checked by trainers before going to the locker room.

Backup Bruce Gradkowski started the second half. Dalton returned to the sideline still wearing his shoulder pads, and after meeting with Cincinnati’s medical staff, he threw several warmup tosses. However, Gradkowski remained in the game for Cincinnati’s second series.

Dalton went 10 of 15 for 81 yards and threw a 2-yard TD pass to Jermaine Gresham. Dalton was named the opening-week starter because veteran Carson Palmer is not with the team after demanding a trade.
