Three people died Wednesday in northern Prince George’s County, one in a fatal shooting and two others in a suspected murder-suicide, police officials said.

The first incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of Garrett Avenue, in Beltsville.

Police arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot. He died at a nearby hospital. The victim’s name is being withheld until the family can be notified, police said.
The second incident occurred at about 8 a.m. in an apartment complex in the 14700 block of Shiloh Court, said Laurel Police Department spokesman Jim Collins.

A man fatally shot a 26-year-old woman in front of her 10-year-old boy and later turned the gun on himself, Mr. Collins said.

The victim has been identified as Brandice Jones, who lived in the apartments. She was shot multiple times in front of the building and died at the scene.
About 10 minutes later, officers responded to a report of a shooting behind a nursing home on Cherry Lane, about a quarter-mile away from the apartment complex. They arrived to find the suspect in the Jones shooting dead in his car from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This was the first homicide in Laurel in two years.

Mr. Collins said investigators have yet to determine the relationship between the two people, “but I’m sure it will be some sort of domestic.”
The man’s name is being withheld until family is notified.

The boy who witnessed the shooting was not injured, police said.

“It’s a sad day all around,” Mr. Collins said.
