STORRS, CONN. (AP) - Star recruit Andre Drummond has enrolled at Connecticut and been added to the roster of the men’s basketball team.
UConn said Friday that the 6-foot-11 Drummond has decided to wear No. 12 for the Huskies, after originally being assigned No. 15, the same number worn last year by Kemba Walker.
The school has not said where Drummond’s scholarship will come from. Connecticut has none available after losing three due to NCAA rules violations and a poor academic performance rating.
Several media outlets are reporting that redshirt freshman Michael Bradley has volunteered to give up his scholarship and apply for financial aid. The 6-10 Bradley would play as a walk-on.
Drummond made the surprise announcement that he would join Connecticut last week on his Twitter page.
The Huskies are coming off a national-championship season in which they finished 32-9. They won the Big East tournament in New York as well, and defeated Butler, 53-41, in Houston to win the NCAA tournament.
