Unless that is fixed, teams like the A’s are destined to be one-hit wonders. The stars may occasionally align and reward them with a good season or two, but year to year they simply can’t compete with teams handing out cash like Halloween candy.

They’re destined to remain, as Pitt says in the movie, “organ donors for the rich.”

“Moneyball” is a pleasant surprise, a movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously yet succeeds on many levels.

Too bad the A’s of today aren’t nearly as entertaining.
