NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Goaltender Braden Holtby’s latest stint in Hershey proved to be a short one. He’s coming back to Washington.

Holtby will be recalled to join the Capitals Thursday, his agent, David Kaye, told The Washington Times in an email.

The young goalie had just been sent down to the Bears earlier in the week when the Caps trimmed down their roster.

Team spokesman Sergey Kocharov confirmed that Holtby will practice with the Caps Thursday.

“Neuvirth is nursing a minor injury and for precautionary reasons will be given a day off,” Kocharov said in an email sent to reporters.

Neuvirth took warm-ups and was on the bench Wednesday night.

Holtby was 10-2-2 with a .934 save percentage and 1.79 goals-against average last season with the Caps.

The Caps’ next game is Friday night against the Sabres at Verizon Center. Neuvirth figured to start that game.
