One man was killed and two others injured in separate shootings overnight in the District.
A 42-year-old man was fatally shot around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of 14th Place in Southeast, Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Officer Tisha Gant said. The man was shot in the back and the head. As of Wednesday, police had not released his name.
Around the same time as the fatal shooting, a 22-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting in the 600 block of 53rd Street in Southeast. Police said someone fired shots from a vehicle. Officials gave no description of the vehicle.
Earlier in the evening, around 10:30 p.m., another man was shot in the 900 block of Wahler Place in Southeast. Police are on the lookout for an 18-year-old man in connection with that shooting.
Three assaults also were reported overnight.
Around 3 a.m. in the 3600 block of Hayes Street in Northeast, a man pulled out a gun while assaulting a person but did not fire the gun, Officer Gant said.
During a robbery at 10:40 p.m. in the 600 block of 11th Street Northeast, Officer Gant said a man was assaulting another man and "produced a handgun."
Police are still looking for the suspects in both of those assaults. No information was available on the injuries the victims sustained during the attacks.
In another attack, police arrested one woman for assaulting a man with a knife. The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. in the 200 block of 50th Street in Northeast, Officer Gant said.
