P.G. man arrested after machete attack

Sheriff’s deputies say an Upper Marlboro man arrested Tuesday tried to kill another man with a machete during an argument.

Authorities said Eddie Ivey confronted another man before attacking and hitting him in the head with a machete in the 4700 block of Suitland Road in Suitland on April 10, according to the Prince George’s County sheriff’s office.
Details on the victim’s condition were not released.

Mr. Ivey, 49, was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree and second-degree murder, first-degree and second-degree assault and intent to injure with a deadly weapon, according to court records.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Mr. Ivey in Forestville on a warrant issued by Prince George’s County police for one of the attempted murder charges.

He was taken to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond, the sheriff’s office said.

Mr. Ivey’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15.
