Ward has to focus on his job. He can’t let himself be distracted by hateful and ignorant toads. But just like we condemn acts of violence — such as the Vancouver riots after Boston won last season - we should condemn acts of bigotry — like the torrent of racist tweets after Boston lost Thursday night.

Such invective takes a toll on society. The perpetrators shouldn’t get away scot-free.
