A 22-year-old man was fatally shot in the head Thursday night in Northeast, D.C. police said.

Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue Northeast for a report of gunshots around 10:15 p.m., spokesman Officer Araz Alali said. They found Bidley Warren, of Northeast, unconscious and not breathing and suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police shut down portions Rhode Island Avenue overnight as they processed the crime scene. The roadway was reopened around 7 a.m. Friday.

No further information was immediately available about the circumstances of the shooting.
