HALETHORPE, Md. (AP) – Baltimore County police say an officer shot a naked man who was armed with a rifle at a motel in Halethorpe.
Police say the 42-year-old man was shot several times and was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition.
The shooting occurred around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday at the Beltway Motel on Washington Boulevard. Police say someone called 911 to report that a naked man was standing in a room and firing shots outside with a rifle.
When officers arrived, police say the man came out of the room still holding the rifle. The officers ordered him to drop it, but police say he didn’t obey and began to walk toward the officers. That’s when they opened fire.
The officers have been placed on routine administrative leave.
