Pedestrian killed in Fort Washington by driver sleeping at wheel

A 46-year-old man was struck by a car and killed in Fort Washington early Thursday morning when a driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove onto the sidewalk.

The man, identified as Terraine Saunders of the 9100 block of Little Stone Drive in Fort Washington, was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

According to police, Mr. Saunders was walking on the sidewalk on the 9200 block of Livingston Road.
