A man was killed Thursday night during a home invasion in the District’s North Michigan Park neighborhood in Northeast, police said.
Metropolitan Police Department officials identified the man as 24-year-old Jermile Damon Davis of Southeast.
Officers were called to the 4400 block of 6th Place around 8:12 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they found Mr. Davis suffering from a gunshot wound, police spokesman Officer Araz Alali said. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
Police could not provide any more details about the circumstances of the shooting. In describing the suspects, police were told by witnesses that two men were seen fleeing southbound away from the home after the shooting, Officer Alali said.
No weapon was recovered from the scene.
