One man was injured when he was shot in the leg Monday afternoon in Southeast D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m. in the 4400 block of 3rd Street Southeast, in a neighborhood of apartment buildings located between the Washington Highlands and the District’s border with Prince George’s County.
No information was available about the extent of the man’s injuries, but MPD spokesman Officer Anthony Clay said the department’s homicide unit was not called to the scene. The man, who was described as in his 20s, was taken to a hospital. No information was available about the circumstances of the shooting.
Through their Twitter account, the police department described the shooting suspect as a man wearing dark clothing. Officer Clay could not confirm that description.
